Campus Compact Student Awards

Application period is open for students to submit applications for Campus Compact’s Howard R. Swearer Student Humanitarian Award and Frank Newman Leadership Award.

The Swearer Award recognizes students for their innovative strategies in addressing community issues and needs, and their efforts to build and sustain this work among their peers and within their institution. Five awards are available to undergraduate students at Campus Compact member colleges and universities.

The Newman Award recognizes students with financial need and civic leadership potential and provides both financial support and mentorship to help them achieve their academic and civic goals. Two awards are available to undergraduate students at Campus Compact member colleges and universities.

Winning students receive a cash award to support community work as well as national recognition for their efforts.

$2,000 awards for young service learning leaders

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes seeks nominations for its 2008 awards. The Barron Prize honors young people ages 8 to 18 who have made a significant positive difference to people and our planet. Each year, ten national winners each receive $2,000 to support their service work or higher education. Nomination deadline is April 30, 2008.
