Target Field Trip Grants Support K-12 Extracurricular Activities

The Target Field Trip Grants program provides funds for K-12 field trips in order to give students the opportunity to explore more of the world outside the classroom. Examples of eligible field trips include: art, science, and cultural museum visits; community service and civic projects; and career enrichment opportunities. In the current funding cycle, grants of up to $800 each will be awarded to 5,000 educators throughout the United States. Funds may be used to cover trip-related costs such as transportation, ticket fees, resource materials, and supplies. Education professionals who are employed by accredited U.S. K-12 public, private, or charter schools are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted online through the website listed above by November 1, 2008.

Verizon Foundation Funds for Literacy and Safety Initiatives (Deadline: November 1)

The mission of the Verizon Foundation is to improve lives through literacy, knowledge, and a readiness for the 21st Century. The Foundation's funding priorities include: supporting literacy and K-12 education for children and adults, preventing domestic violence and helping victims gain independence, improving healthcare through technology, and educating parents and children about Internet safety. Grants generally range from $5,000 to $10,000. Online applications may be submitted from January 1 through November 1, annually. State Farm® Good Neighbor Service-Learning grants

With generous support from the State Farm Companies Foundation, Youth Service America is offering the annual State Farm Good Neighbor Service-Learning Grant for youth-led community improvement projects across the United States and Canada (Alberta, Ontario, and New Brunswick provinces only). These grants of up to $1,000 support teachers and service-learning coordinators in engaging students (ages 5-25) to implement service-learning projects for Global Youth Service Day, April 24-26, 2009. We encourage semester-long projects that are launched on Martin Luther King Day on January 19, 2009 and extend through Global Youth Service Day. Submission Deadline Approaching for Grants to Institutions of Higher Education to Promote MLK Day of Service 2009

NC Campus Compact, one of seven national lead agencies selected by the Corporation for National and Community Service to promote the 2009 MLK Day of Service, is now accepting grant applications from out-of-network institutions of higher education. This includes institutions in states that do not have a Campus Compact state office, or did not have an office prior to May 2008. Grants are available in increments of $1,000 and $2,500 to institutions in the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Virginia and Wyoming. We strongly encourage applications on behalf of a group/coalition of institutions, but please note that only one institution can serve as the subgrantee.
